Five men were killed when the B-17 flew into Mt. Elden  at approximately 1:45am on March 5, 1943.  The aircraft was stationed at Blythe Army Air Base and was on a training flight.

The wreck site today is easily accessible.  All that remains at the crash site are the main landing gears and small scattered debris..

Landing gears are about all that remain of a B-17 that crashed into Mt. Elden.

Partially hidden from an old tree is the second landing gear.
